We love stories here at The Circus. You’ll find books to borrow and enjoy from our taproom for the brewery at The Circus Hostel to the lounge in The Circus Hotel. We frequently host literary tours and events, and by the city of Rosenthaler Platz, we have commissioned a collection of stories about Rosenthaler Platz and – together with the help of The Circus Sammelsurium – have even released a book of our own.
We’ve been a frequent partner in The Berlin Writing Prize, which is run through Reader Berlin in conjunction with SAND Journal, and 2022 is no exception. If you love The Circus with a story, consider how you could win three weeks with us to enjoy an unforgettable Writing residency in Berlin.
The 2022 theme for the Berlin Writing Prize is ‘Escape the shackles of time.’ The competition is open to both published and unpublished writers worldwide. The winner will be awarded an all-inclusive three-week stay at The Circus Hotel in January 2023. Two runners-up will be awarded an overnight stay at the prize-giving ceremony. On the competition’s website, you will get all the information about how to participate, including the word count and crucial dates. You will also be able to learn about the judges; one of them is a familiar face to those who have been with us before!
We’ve supported our participation in the Berlin Writing Prize for several years and have had a blast welcoming the prize winners to reside with us. We’re eager to discover what writers from all over the globe think of the theme this year.
