Burlington Butter Tart Festival at Burlington Centre – August 12th

The first of three incredible food festivals taking place in Burlington during the month. This festival is a must for anyone who has a sweet tooth or who wants to indulge in their favorite food! Take a look at one of Canada’s best offerings for the rest of humanity. (yes, the butter tarts were invented in Canada!) Local merchants as well as vendors from across Ontario. Browse the extensive artisan market, enjoy live music, and watch the judges select their favorites during the free event. Make sure you register at the Butter Tart Festival Races early in the morning to get your appetite going and the chance to win delicious desserts! The Burlington Food Bank is in need of donations. Burlington VegFest at Burloak Waterfront – August 19th
Promoting the environmental and health benefits of a vegetarian diet, VegFest is a great venue to sample vegan foods and support small, local companies and organizations. It is open to everyone, whether you are vegetarian, vegan, or omnivore – attend the Burloak Waterfront to enjoy an afternoon with live music, children’s activities, and lots of delicious, completely vegan food, from sweet to savory, and all between! Royal Canadian International Circus at Burlington Centre – August 24th – 27th
If you’re looking for an activity that will fill your summer with laughter and smiles, as well as thrills and screams, you should look no further than the Royal Canadian International Circus. The circus is on tour throughout Canada as well as across the United States; the chaos will stop at Burlington for four performances in the final weekend in August. There are three seats to pick from; you can watch a generation of comedians, magicians, and performers on the trapeze, daredevils, and much more. This is a show your children won’t wish to be missing. Canada’s Largest Ribfest at Spencer Smith Park – September 1st – 4th
Although it’s not officially during August, you should absolutely take advantage of this celebration just before school begins! If you’re a fan of ribs or just looking for a fun location for your kids to ease any first-day-of-school jitters during Labour Day weekend, this is the perfect place! The event will feature 18 top “ribbers” from across North America and live music throughout the day long, plenty of children’s games and activities, as well as ample food (even if ribs aren’t your style!). If you’re looking to make a difference, Ribfest is run by Rotary Burlington Lakeshore. The proceeds go to a wide range of hunger, health, and human rights organizations throughout the region and initiatives across the country.
